(SUR)PRISE!
Imagine my surprise the other week, when upon opening an innocent looking bit of post, I discovered that Eden Court has been nominated as 'Most Stylish Entertainment Venue' in the much coveted 'Scottish Stye Awards' - now we know that the Highlands is a brilliantly stylish place, but we didn't realise that the fashionistas in the central belt thought so too! We'll be off to Glasgow for the awards on Saturday night. Hopefully there'll be good news to report next week. I'll let you know!

PRIZE(S)!
We've just launched a brilliant new way to help you get rich! It's called the '500 Club' and for a set fixed amount each month, you'll be entered into a draw to win £500!! Find out more by clicking HERE - it's dead easy and you can win money!

Lastly, if you don't already know - we're about to officially unveil full details of this year's INVERNESS FILM FESTIVAL - you can register for updates right now, and we'll give you 'the skinny' on Thursday!

Best wishes,

Peter Pan

Peter Pan

NATIONAL THEATRE OF SCOTLAND

TUE 1 - SAT 5 JUN 2010

by JM Barrie
In a new version by David Greig

Directed by John Tiffany
Designed by Laura Hopkins
Music by Davey Anderson

All children, except one, grow up...

In 2010 the National Theatre of Scotland brings Peter Pan home, presenting a brand new version, especially for families, of one of the most influential and magical stories ever told by a Scottish writer, in what will be 150th anniversary of the birth of JM Barrie.

Peter’s impish arrival into the lives of Wendy, John and Michael is the beginning of a thrilling, deliciously naughty, eerie escapade. Together they take off on a fantastical flight to the colourful wonderful Never Land, an enchanted place of vivid characters. There’s a gang of Lost Boys, a horde of pirates and, of course, one of the wickedest villains of all time.

Razor-sharp sword fights, virtuoso flying sequences, acrobats, fire-eaters, ticking crocodiles and one great big hook will ensure the whole family is drawn into this other-worldly distinctly Caledonian adventure.

Directed by the National Theatre of Scotland’s own Olivier Award-winning John Tiffany and written by multi award-winning Scottish playwright David Greig (Midsummer, Yellow Moon) this Peter Pan reimagines the Darling family in Victorian Edinburgh with all its mists, gas-lamps, bridges and mystery.

Songbird

Songbird

FRI 30 | 10.30 & 13.30
SAT 31 | 10.30

Giant - the Inclusive Theatre Specialists join forces with acclaimed composer David Paul Jones, for a unique and innovative development in music theatre for all children aged 8 years + and their families.

The Songbird follows the tale of an extraordinary exotic bird that is captured in the tranquil solitude of the forest by a ruthless logger who is captivated by her song. The logger takes the bird on a dangerous voyage across the ocean to the cut and thrust of the metropolis. The bird is put on the stage to sing, gloriously at first, and then searching and faltering, while the bird catcher revels in the limelight. Will the bird survive or will its song become a poignant memory of a lost world?

Scottish Ballet

Scottish Ballet

40TH ANNIVERSARY TOUR

FRI 30 / SAT 31 OCT | 19.30

Eden Court favourites Scottish Ballet bring their fantastic talents to the Highlands this week as part of their 40th Anniversary Scottish Tour. The 'Autumn Season' (or Mixed Bill) is a great introduction to the work of this brilliant company - with three separate and distinct pieces it offers a flavour of the work they do, in an easy to digest form. You can look forward to the enchanting piece from New York City Ballet founder, George Balanchine - 'Rubies' with its Stravinsky musical accompaniment, a beautiful William Forsythe piece called 'workwithinwork' and the much talked about and hugely anticipated Krysztof Pastor piece 'In Light And Shadow'.

I can't think of a nicer way to round off the week than with a trip to the Ballet!

There's also a brilliiant opportunity to get closer to Scottish Ballet this weekend with their 'OUTSIDE IN' - Scottish Ballet's staff and dancers will give you an insight into how they put ballets together, about props, sets, lighting and all things ballet. It's a bit like Scottish Opera's (really popular) Unwrapped series. Give the Box Office a call to find out more.

A Wee Home From Home

A Wee Home From Home

PLANB DANCE COMPANY

WED 4 & THU 5 NOV | 19.30

Legendary Scottish choreographer, dance guru and Highland resident Frank McConnell's plan B dance company are reviving the amazing 'Wee Home From Home' - it's directed by Gerry Mulgrew (who you last saw as Old Peer in NTS's Peer Gynt), has music by Michael Marra and is being brought to us by the same creative team that launched it 21 years ago.

Dance fans should get this in their diaries now - it's one of the best Scottish dance shows you're ever likely to see. Don't miss out.

Scottish Opera

Scottish Opera

THE ELIXIR OF LOVE

WED 4 & FRI 6 NOV | 19.15

Hapless peasant Nemorino is  head over heels in love with Adina, but his love is not being reciprocated... How can he make her love him? With the 'Elixir of Love'of course ... Donizetti's score is beautiful and melodic and is a perfect antidote to the dark autumn nights.

More Scottish Opera!

More Scottish Opera!

THE ITALIAN GIRL IN ALGIERS

SAT 7 NOV | 19.15

A slight change of tack for the opera's second show in their Autumn visit to Eden Court - Rossini's entertaining Italian Girl has been given the Scottish Opera treatment and is quite simply marvellous. International 'playboy' Mustafa is bored with his wife and hatches a plot to get  rid  of her, so he can marry a  beautiful young Italian girl. Cue much mayhem and operatic soapery!

WANT TO WORK FOR US?

We're looking for temporary Christmas staff to help out in our busy Box Office. It's great fun and hugely rewarding!
